New York Power Authority NYPA is an American state-owned power organization. The company is engaged in the generation and transmission of electricity primarily in the New York State. NYPA owns and operates 18 generating facilities with net dependable capability of over 6,300 MW and has more than 1,400 circuit-miles of transmission lines. The company is also involved in purchases electric capacity, energy and renewable energy attributes to serve its customers. NYPA sells power to government agencies, community-owned electric systems, rural electric cooperatives, job-producing companies, private utilities and to neighboring states under federal requirements.
